I remember the acidity rising in my throat: body. I remember the panic I felt when I heard (false) reports that there were two shooters and that one was Muslim: aftermath. I remember thinking of my friend who had recently decided to stop wearing hijab unrelated to Trump but not unrelated to violence: complexity. I remember imagining all of the ways this would initially get twisted and then quickly ignored: Islamophobia. I remember and still think on all of us who have roots in places where occupation and war are blamed on religion and cultural difference when really it’s about imperialism: mind-racing.
